I remember when I used to play the original game, how every ambush and sudden fire fight scared the living hell out of me. They diverted heavily from the original art style in the second installment of the franchiseĬompany of heroes, is supposed to be dark and gritty. I think the entire art style of Company of heroes 3 is off point. As it stands now though I feel CoH 3 has moved closer the top hit playstation game micro-machines. We are very Pre-Alpha! I hope for a CoH 3 which makes you feel like you are in the action with big metal beast tanks and bullets whizzing by screaming soldiers. And, as mentioned, still not sure what the 'final' vision is. I'm not feeling that the levels of immersion currently match that of either CoH 1 or CoH 2. Your experience would feel lesser and you wouldn't even gain an advantage because the other player would be playing it in exactly the same state.īut like I said it's not just about the zoom level or the scale of the units (in relation to our screenspace/camera zoom). You wouldn't be witnessing the battle but rather a birds-eye-view of the battle. You probably wouldn't enjoy the game as much. If you played Company of Heroes so zoomed out you could command all squads in play across the entire map without moving the camera. The problem with this line of logic though is as follows Of course if you could see the whole map and control it you would have a tremendous advantage. This is mainly from a 'playing well' perspective. I get so many people made comments about wanting the game to be zoomed out. The sticky bomb itself is quite small but the reason why that is quite clear to see is because its physics defying travel speed and trajectory.Ĥ) Tanks just don't feel like hulking metal monsters. In Company of Heroes 3.The thing you see is a timer. In Company of Heroes 1 you can clearly see a grenade being thrown. I understand we wanted to go away from the "units pop super glossy reflective" from the previous Pre-Alpha. Yet the distances which units attack at feel the same as Company of Heroes 1 or 2.ģ) The units feel like they blend in with the surroundings. Because we zoomed out all the units look smaller. Watch two squads firing at each other and the problems are ġ) Barely feels like I'm seeing any tracers flicking between the two squads.Ģ) We're zoomed out more. It's hard to criticise because we don't know what the end game artistic vision is. I feel like a lot of the style of CoH 3 looks 'off' at the moment.
